The Great Gatsby

In F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, Nick Carraway reflects on his enigmatic neighbour, Jay Gatsby, whose life is a shimmering façade of wealth and extravagance, in 1920’s Long Island. Gatsby hosts legendary parties and everybody whose anybody is there. Yet Gatsby seems alone. Through Nick’s eyes, we witness Gatsby’s longing for a love that seems out of reach. As his obsession grows, the shimmering world he’s built begins to crack.
