You need an account
To view and engage with most of the features on our website, you will need to set up an account. To set up an account, you will need to register with your email address and choose a password.
You acknowledge that your account is unique and personal to you, and you are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and any account activity and purchases. If you share your username and password with anyone, they can take control of the account. In these circumstances, we are not liable for any of your or their actions. If you find out that someone has used your account without permission, please report it by emailing [email protected]. You agree not to impersonate someone you aren’t. You may never use another person’s account without their permission.
The Literary Kingdom may reclaim any username, at any time, which we believe violates another party’s intellectual property rights, is inactive, is considered inappropriate by The Literary Kingdom, or which could mislead other users. If we need to reclaim a username, you will be notified and asked to change your username to continue to have access to your account.

It is important you read our content guidelines before you publish a book on our website.
When you use our services to publish a book, you are giving us permission under applicable copyright laws to display and sell the content to users of The Literary Kingdom.
You are responsible for the books that you publish, and other content that you post. This means that you assume all risks related to its publication and display, including someone else’s reliance on its accuracy and any claims a person might make relating to legal rights, for example those that relate to intellectual property or copyright. We may not monitor or control content published/posted on our services and we do not take responsibility for what our users publish/post. We do not support, represent, or guarantee the completeness, truthfulness, accuracy or reliability of any content or communications posted on The Literary Kingdom by its users. Whilst we take every reasonable action to remove inappropriate or harmful content, you understand that by using our services, you may be exposed to content that may be offensive, inaccurate, harmful or inappropriate, or deceptive. When content like this is reported, we will investigate it and it may be removed.
The Literary Kingdom may showcase your content to promote our services. We will never sell your content to third parties without your explicit permission.
If you submit your writing into one of our contests, or to be published in one of our collections, you may enter into additional or different terms and conditions, or agreements. In case of conflict, the terms and conditions for those entries will override those set out for standard publication.
Comments and Posts
By submitting comments on an author’s story, responding to someone in a forum or making a post from your account, and all other communication through our services, such as emailing us about our website, The Literary Kingdom will be free to use your text for any purposes, in all media, in perpetuity, owing no obligation or liability to you whatsoever, including, but not limited to the right to use, sell, display, exploit, publish, change, add to, and distribute it. This does not include the books that you publish.
How we handle copyright issues

Users accused of copyrighting another person’s work will be investigated. The Literary Kingdom reserves the right to remove content alleged to be infringing copyright without prior notice, at our sole discretion, and without liability to the writer or anyone else. If it is proven that a user has published copyrighted work, we may terminate their account.
Our Don’ts list

Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time. If you have subscribed to our monthly membership, you need to give us thirty days’ notice. If you have subscribed for an annual membership, The Literary Kingdom will not refund you if you cancel your subscription six months into your membership.

The Literary Kingdom reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account and all content included therein, at any time, for any reason at our discretion, including if you fail to comply with the terms and conditions set out here. If your account is suspended or terminated, The Literary Kingdom will not be liable to you for your inability to access any content you published or shared, purchased or otherwise, on our account.
The Literary Kingdom’s liability
When you use our services, you release The Literary Kingdom from any claims, damages, and demands, known or unknown, disclosed or undisclosed, from disputes between users or users and third party services.
The Literary Kingdom will not be liable for any damages that arise from your use of our services. This exclusion includes, without limitations, where services are hacked or unavailable (for example, because of technical problems or site updates), all types of damages, no matter the type of claim or loss, and any lost profit.

Why do you ask for my date of birth?
Children under the age of 13 are not permitted to use The Literary Kingdom, therefore this privacy notice makes no provision for their use of our site. We collect your date of birth to ensure you are eligible to use the site. Whilst some content may appeal to children, no part of The Literary Kingdom is directed to, or targets, younger children.

What happens to your personal information when you leave The Literary Kingdom?
When you create an account with us, we will hold on to your information for as long as the account is open. If you close your account, it will initially be deactivated for six months; this means that it will not be visible on The Literary Kingdom. All your comments to the community will remain (however they will be anonymised).
After closing your account, it will still be possible to restore it within the first six months. You will not have lost your posts, stories, and comments in this time. After six months, we will delete all personal information we hold about you, however, your contributions (comments on stories, forum posts, etc.) which we anonymise will remain.

We ask that all members of The Literary Kingdom community be respectful of others, inclusive, and friendly. Being patient and understanding of others is how we learn and is key to telling good stories. We will not tolerate any form of discrimination, harassment, or hate speech. If you see a post with the aim of upsetting a member of the community, please report it.
